Chris Oanda

Chris is a practicing Supply Chain professional with over 20 years’ experience gained in academia, private and public sectors in consultancy and employment. Chris has worked in Oil and Gas, Commodities, Pharma, Aerospace and Manufacturing sectors across four continents.

Chris is Team Leader of the e-sokoni Consultants and The Global Procurement Academy. Chris created the first B2B ecommerce platform in Africa in 2002. e-sokoni were retained in 2004 to 2008 to successfully operationalize, restructure and transform KEMSA from a mere extension of the MOH into an autonomous corporate entity with capacity to Plan, Procure, Warehouse and Distribute drugs and other medical supplies to Public Health Facilities throughout Kenya.

In 2010 to 2013, Chris successfully created an efficient International Fuel Procurement framework for 15 African airlines with total fuel spend of over USD 2 Billion per year. In 2018, Chris led e-sokoni in a subcontract with PSA (BMGF) as Technical Advisors to undertake the Supply Chain Transformation work in Kaduna and Niger States in Nigeria. The outcome was an increase in essential and life-saving drugs from 6% to over 85% in the scaled up health facilities.

Chris has devoted many years to develop Supply Chain professionalism in Kenya, Africa and across the world. He is the Founder Chairman of KISM and President Elect of International Federation of Purchasing and Supplies Management (IFPSM). In East Africa Chris has actively works through KISM between 2007 and 2019 to steer growth of the SC profession in Eastern Africa and entrench teaching of Supply Chain as a profession in East African universities.

Chris is a regular public commentator and writer on supply chain matters in print and electronic media and is a fierce campaigner against procurement malpractices when public funds are invested.
