Biography

Ezekiel Odiogo

Mr. Ezekiel Odiogo is a global investment banker, thinker, cross-industry expert, and leader – spanning multiple sectors (Energy, Transport, Technology Media Telecoms (TMT), Financial Services, and SME Development). As Head, Private Sector Investment Operations at the Africa Investment Forum (AIF), African Development Bank – the globally acclaimed, and fully transactional investment platform, he led the platform from concept into record breaking back-to-back progressive successes, translating the AIF into “Africa’s premier investment marketplace”, in just 2 years, with a growing portfolio of about US$115 billion, and over US$3.1 billion of deals fully financed and closed on the platform under a cycle.  

Mr. Odiogo has held several senior positions at the African Development Bank, managing multi-billion dollar portfolio traversing advisory and investment operations including PPPs and Funds, across industries and infrastructure asset class. He championed and led several landmark initiatives such Boost Africa and Rwanda Innovation Fund, deepening the continent’s venture capital market development, and led and closed first of its kind transactions, leveraging innovative finance structures and mechanisms – such as US$280 million Air Cote D’Ivoire fleet modernization project, US$1.5 billion Kampala – Jinja Toll Expressway project, amongst others. Before the AfDB, Mr. Odiogo held senior positions as Investment & TMT Lead at the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), where he led from scratch the establishment of the Bank’s global TMT operations, growing the portfolio to over US$1B within a year, and as Business Development Manager at the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD), IDB.  Before his sojourn to development banking, Mr. Odiogo held key positions in various blue chip multinationals such as Shell International, nPower Business Energy, UK, and Santander Bank, UK. 

Mr. Odiogo is a Sloan Fellow and earned an MBA at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA. He also has Masters degrees from the London School of Economics (LSE), UK, and Bradford University, UK, in addition to executive education at the University of Oxford, UK, Duke University, USA, Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, USA, and Queens University, Canada. A UNESCO Fellow on Economic Policy and Competitiveness, he is a well sought speaker, advisor to Governments and Businesses, and industry expert. He is also a serial entrepreneur and was Legatum and MasterCard Foundation Fellows at the MIT Legatum Center for Development & Entrepreneurship, and at MIT Martin Trust Center for Entrepreneurship where he sat at the advisory board of its Global Founders’ Skills Accelerator, and mentored at the MIT COVID Challenge, advising several global ventures. Mr. Odiogo is also a Governing Board member of the US Business in Africa Awards.
